Why The US Has No High-Speed Rail
China has the world’s fastest and largest high-speed rail network — more than 19,000 miles, the vast majority of which was built in the past decade.
Japan’s bullet trains can reach nearly 200 miles per hour and date to the 1960s. They have moved more than 9 billion people without a single passenger causality. casualty
France began service of the high-speed TGV train in 1981 and the rest of Europe quickly followed.
But the U.S. has no true high-speed trains, aside from sections of Amtrak’s Acela line in the Northeast Corridor. The Acela can reach 150 mph for only 34 miles of its 457-mile span. Its average speed between New York and Boston is about 65 mph.
California’s high-speed rail system is under construction, but whether it will ever get completed as intended is uncertain.
other countries are planning to build high rail speed, a more convenient way of transportation.
if I can go to Austin, Houston in less than 2 hours from dallas, I would visit every week
Why we need the train when we got so many airplanes? and car, not like china more than 3/4 Chinese don't have cars
Well if your govt start to repair your trains system and make it better peoples will leaving the highway and owning less cars
Automobile industries will never let this happen
Thats why public transportations there isnt quite good

When I saw US train I started laughing.
Here in Turkey high speed rail from Ankara to Istanbul takes aprx 4 hours, by car 6-7. Come on guys invest your money in high speed rail system instead of building a stupid wall you will love it.
77 Billion for infrastructure - "Where will we find the money"
750 Billion (each year) for war - "No problem".
I highly recommend if you get the chance to go to Japan - Tokyo and experience their train system . Then take the Shinkasen from Tokyo to Osaka!
Can't afford this but can afford going to war!
Because its a 3rd world country DUH!
I'd rather be on a train than in a driverless car
Why build railway when they have almost unlimited oil supply.
simple. The automobile industry combined with oil & gas are a too damn powerful lobby. They don't want common Americans to enjoy the fruits of cheap public transportation.
The U.S wastes its taxpayers dollars on endless wars with out profit or reason.
Reason seems pretty obvious, all money has been wasted in wars.
boeing simply doesn't want US to build high-speed rail network... otherwise nobody will buy airplane...OH MY GOD . why am i so smart....
I'm an American and served in the military. In the 90s I was in Tokyo and when I got back to the states I was ashamed of our current infrastructure. We are so far behind
Same thing I experienced after being in the military. The sad part is Americans still think we have the best of everything
Uh Japan is mostly mountains, and the Shinkansen has to go through them. It's by no means a flat country
i mostly work abroad, China, Germany France, Korea. Every time i come back to LA, take a taxi to H405...terrible... it seems stepping back in the 1950s.
The US is so far behind
People from Europe: "I drove one hour to another country!"
People from America: "I drove one hour to work."
People from Texas: "I drove one hour to the grocery store."
Because auto, oil, and coal, buy out the US Government
Because you don't have the Chinese to build the railways anymore
because US has not enough technology to build a high speed rail
